La Leche League of Cleveland County Families

Picture

If you need breastfeeding information or assistance, please use one of the following options to reach a Leader:

-->Paula: Call 405-585-MILK (405-585-6455) or Email <LLLPauLLLa@gmail.com>

-->Katrina: <tandknicholson@yahoo.com> or text 806-239-2564

Please do leave a message if we are unable to answer your call. Due to some problems with crank calls, we are not comfortable returning calls to an unknown number or person. Also, please keep in mind that we are volunteers with families, so sometimes we cannot answer the phone or return calls, emails, or texts immediately.
You can also reach us by joining our Facebook Group, linked to the right, and ask questions of the Leaders there.

 Come join us for our La Leche League Virtual Meetings via Zoom:

What times?
  • 10 a.m. on first or second Saturdays. Changes will be made to Saturday meeting dates to avoid holidays, and
  • 7 p.m. on the third Thursdays

Where are the meetings being held?
  • While there is a risk of passing the virus that causes COVID-19 infections, La Leche League USA and La Leche League International require us to hold only virtual meetings.
  • Please contact a Leader or follow the link to our Facebook Group for meeting access.

Where's the info for getting on the meeting?
  • Access info for virtual meetings will be announced on the Facebook Group (see link below), or you may contact Paula or Katrina at their emails to the left so we can send you the direct link for the meeting.

Anyone who is nursing or pregnant, who is interested in learning more about nursing, breastfeeding, or otherwise providing human milk for their baby, or who is supporting someone who is nursing their baby is welcome (including your children) at every meeting.

For in-person meetings:
  • We are very grateful to our local library for providing us space in which to hold our meetings without charge! We ask that all attendees respect their property. We appreciate their generosity so much!
  • If you have a toddler, you may want to bring something for them to eat at meetings, but due to the need to protect potentially allergic children and to protect the library's furnishings, please:  --bring non-messy snacks                                                                                                         --keep the snack with you and allow your child to eat it only with you.
For all meetings: if you are interested in attending, please confirm meeting day and time prior to the meeting with one of the Leaders in case of changes. Sick children or inclement weather may lead to cancellation, even of Zoom meetings.

We often post new research, nursing tips, or information for nursing in a crisis (such as pandemics or tornadoes!) on our Facebook Page. Our Facebook Group is like an online meeting; if you wish to join, follow the link above and send a join request to the Leaders. We will post meeting cancellation notices on our FB Page as early as possible.

AFTER THE RISK OF COVID-19 HAS PASSED and LLL USA and LLLI say we can, WE WILL RETURN TO HOLDING IN-PERSON MEETINGS on Saturdays. We will continue to hold Zoom meetings on Thursday evenings. One possible location for in-person meetings is the Rose Rock Room in Norman's Central Library.

The Rose Rock Room is the green glass-walled room to the right of the stairs and elevators on the second floor. We will bring toys for the children to share. We chat while our children play. Burning questions are always welcome, or just come to hang out with people who share your interest in breastfeeding!

Our face-to-face meetings offer a space for developing a network of friends with others who have similar values for nursing their babies and parenting and for sharing your concerns and joys. We will share information and tips about a variety of issues a nursing family may experience, including surviving the early postpartum weeks, managing milk supply and coping with latch issues, pumping, yeast infections (thrush), mastitis, tongue tie/lip tie, working and nursing, and much more.

Leaders are trained and accredited by La Leche League International to provide individual support and help nursing families overcome many of the early challenges of nursing as well as those that may arise later along the nursing journey.
Please keep in mind that only a Leader speaks for La Leche League. Leaders will always offer evidence-based information.

All others speak only from their own personal parenting experiences.
While we often start a meeting with a particular topic as a conversation-starter, your questions are always welcome; we emphasize sharing and mutual support in an open discussion.
